Make Better Decisions About Your Heart.
Understand your risk. Decide with confidence.
The Heart Health Formula is a structured online programme developed by preventive cardiologist Dr Paddy Barrett. It helps you understand cardiovascular risk, interpret your results and make evidence-based decisions with greater confidence.
Most people don't have an information problem.
They have a decision framework problem.
Heart health is rarely short of opinions.
The difficult part is deciding which recommendations apply to you, which tests matter and what action is justified by your individual level of risk.
Do I need a calcium scan?
Is ApoB more important?
Is my blood pressure high?
What can I do without using medications?
Am I already doing enough?
These questions require context, judgement and a clear framework.
A better way to think about heart health.
Instead of teaching isolated facts, every recommendation follows the same structured process—helping you move from uncertainty to an informed and practical decision.
There Is Only Your Risk & What YOU Can Do About it.
Dr Barrett is a preventive cardiologist who has helped thousands of people understand their risk of heart disease and prevent it before it happens.
With over 20 years in clinical practice and research, he created The Heart Health Formula to cut through the noise and give people a clear, evidence-based way to make better decisions about their heart health.
The goal is not to frighten you, overwhelm you or give you another list of rules. It is to help you understand what matters, what does not and what you should do next.

Exactly what is inside The Heart Health Formula.
The programme moves in a deliberate sequence: first understanding heart disease, then assessing your individual risk, and finally building a practical plan to reduce it. Open any section below to see the lessons included.
Course content may be updated over time as the evidence evolves.
This is not for everyone.
The programme asks something of you. It is worth being honest about who it suits before you spend anything.
This is for you if
- You want to take an active role in your own heart health.
- You suspect the standard approach to assessing your risk is not enough.
- You want to go beyond the basics in defining and reducing your risk.
- You want to use lifestyle measures as the foundation of prevention.
- You would rather act now than wait until heart disease becomes an issue.
- Living longer, in good health, matters to you.
This is not for you if
- You think your health is entirely other people's responsibility.
- You are 100% happy with the current model of assessing risk.
- You are happy using just the basics to assess and reduce your risk of heart disease.
- You are not really interested in using lifestyle measures to optimise your heart health.
- You are happy to wait until heart disease becomes an issue before you do anything about it.
- Quality of life is not really a priority and living longer is not that appealing.

Yes.
The modules are designed to be accessible to everyone. No specialised medical background is required. The modules will take you through the stages of understanding what heart disease is, how to define your risk and how to reduce any excess risk.
This is something that should be done with your doctor who is most familiar with your unique medical details.
The course is presented as short video lectures by Dr Barrett.
Each lesson is approximately 10 minutes long. There are three sections, containing 12, 23 and 16 lessons respectively — 51 in total.
These can be viewed in whatever order you wish.
Some of the lessons have downloadable worksheets for tracking your progress over time.
The Complete Heart Health Formula has approximately 9 hours of content inside, so it depends on how much time you have.
The content is best consumed in stages so that your learning can develop over time. Alternatively, you can go straight to the areas that interest you the most.
You can always go back and rewatch material to get a better understanding of things.
No.
This is a library of content that can be used to inform discussions with your own doctor.
Dr Barrett is a practising cardiologist but cannot work individually with people here to give medical advice outside of a doctor-patient relationship.
Accessing this content does not constitute a doctor-patient relationship. All medical decisions must be made in consultation with your own doctor.
That's no problem.
Most people can work with their own primary care provider to define their risk of heart disease and also reduce any risk.
If it turns out you do need to seek the opinion of a cardiologist your primary care doctor is best suited to arranging that consultation.
No.
Heart disease is the same the world over.
The only frequent difference is that the units of measurement for certain tests might be different.
But the issue of units of measurement should not be an issue as both SI and Imperial units are provided in the material.
The programme is priced in euro. If you pay with a card in another currency, your bank will apply its own conversion rate.
Course content may be updated over time as the evidence evolves.
Your doctor should want the best for you.
Sometimes, cardiovascular medicine may not be their primary interest so they may not feel entirely suited to helping you along a more comprehensive journey of understanding and optimising your heart health.
There is always the option of working with a local specialist cardiologist who may be better suited to assist you.
But as always, all medical decisions must be made in consultation with your own doctor. No doctor-patient relationship is formed with Dr Barrett, and the information contained does not constitute the practice of medicine or any healthcare service.
